JACKETS & GLOVES

What sort of jacket & gloves do you fellas wear while out riding? Black leather, Armoured or just something not meant for biking?

I've got one of those armoured jackets with extensive padding on the elbows & shoulders. I can't remember the make - it's not a well known name - & I can't be bothered to traipse upstairs to have a look  (though I'll find out when I next go up). The jacket itself was used quite extensively last winter & is very warm & waterproof. It has a zip out liner for summer use & all in all is a good bit of kit. The gloves aren't biking gauntlets but they match the coat. I've just bought a hi viz vest made for bikers to go over the jacket - got that one from Halfords & it was reduced to clear so only cost a fiver!

Iv just got myself an Akito Python 2 jacket and gloves to match, 100% waterproof they say. And Iv got myself some peter   storm waterproof trousers to keep in the top box too.The jacket has a removeable inner fleece for summer and armour in the usual places. Not keen on leather jackets so went with this.

I've only got the one jacket which I bought before getting my licence.  Its an RST Contour plus Ventilator 2 textile jacket with all the armour and built in back protector.  During winter I zip in the quilted liner but still have to wear two layers.  I chose this one because it has yellow hi-vis bits tastefully incorporated into the design. I refuse to wear a vest so this jacket was a good find. Jackets with reflector strips and panels are fine but only stand out when illuminated so I reckon they are pretty useless in daylight.

Oops, forgot to show the back. Spada is not a well known brand - not to me at least - but it has proved a really decent jacket. Really warm in cold weather, rainproof & has quite a good amount of protection.
It looks better when its on. As for the hi viz vest that too looks better when being worn as it it has elasticated panels on the sides to keep it all close fitting.

Textile jacket, with a removable liner and ventilation zips for the summer. Leather jeans, tho tbh I don't bother with those for commuting.
Waterproof boots / gloves

Hi-viz for commuting, but not otherwise. That needs replacing about every 12 months, but it does keep road grime off the jacket

If it's the British company Scott Leathers, I've got one of their leather jackets and love it...well made and comfortable...not a very high profile company compared with some makes, but they've been around a long time so must be doing something right!
