    I'm considering getting one of these pannier frames.  If one drills through the plastic to put a support bolt for the rear shelf what is underneath the plastic?

    With the rack that I fitted I just marked the hole on the plastic, drilled a small pilot hole then enlarged the hole to the dia of the spacer provided. The thread is M12.
