Chinese Rack for top box

finally gave in to temptation and ordered a rack from Chinese site Agreetao for delivery to UK. Rack cost about 46 USD $. But then you have to guess the weight of the item for delivery. Guessed at 4kg, which cost 50USD. Weight was actually 7.25 (rounded up to 8) so another 50USD. Arrived in about 2weeks when VAT and a handling charge is due. Another £27. Total cost was about £125. Which still represents value considering I think it looks good and I can't get it in the UK.
Piece looks well made and sturdy but it'll be interesting to see how long it lasts in the Manchester weather. I.very liberally applied insulating tape to hopefully protect the metal. But time will tell.  More pictures in my gallery.

That looks a good substantial bit a kit...the finish looks good too. Does it need the tail section of the bike drilling to help support it, like the genuine Suzuki rack...looks like there might be a bracket for that?

I assume you want to fit panniers aswell

I'm not convinced the frame would support panniers but I liked the look and it might be useful for strapping things across. Grumpy, there is a bracket for drilling through to the frame but, well, laziness prevents me doing it. It does look kinda cool though, I think.

You could certainly use soft, throwover type pannier bags.
The frame would provide anchor points and keep the bags away from wheel

You don't need to fit the back bolt unless to add the extra weight of the panniers. Where I live the Police use these bikes with Box and Panniers on a rack the same as you have so the frame should take it. They also tend to ride 2 up...
