I think it sounds like a great idea, if the Greek gods are not so appealing, why not use the Japanese gods, paying homage the to birth place of our fabulous little bike.

There could be Minor Kami and Major Kami, so those that have already reached God could still be a god, but a Minor Kami, and the new higher than god would be also be a god but a Major Kami.
