Aldi 10w 40 engine oil

I be doing an oil change soon and have seen my local Aldi have 1lt of 10w 40 synthetic engine oil for about €4.90

It shows a motorbike among other engines on the label, will this do for my bike or am I being a cheap  and risking damage to the engine and gears ?

if you's cant tell me if this oil is good enough Could you please recommend the oil you use

Morning Mate.  I have just looked at the Suzuki handbook and they recommend SAE 10W-40.
I would think that oil you are looking at would be ok.   
We just had a new Aldi open up about one mile from us.  We had a look around hoping to see biker kit but no such luck.  Your store is better than ours.

I'm at work at the moment, does the handbook list the oil spec ?

If so, does the Aldi oil meet the spec ?
It's not quite as simple as 10W-40, which is the grade

fwiw : I always use branded oil, from a company I recognise. I may be paying a little over, but I'd rather not take chances.

I have nothing against any products that Aldi sell, however below is a good guide for consideration:

1 Protection for gearbox:
Because a motorcycle uses the same oil for both engine and gearbox the oil needs to offer protection for engine components and the gears. This requires motorcycle oil to be uniquely formulated with dedicated technology.
2 Excellent shear stability
Shear stability is the measure of the amount of viscosity that an oil may lose during operation Since a motorcycle engine oil serves two functions – to lubricate the engine and gearbox – it needs to be able to maintain its intended viscosity for the entire service life. With service intervals increasing to 10,000km+, such shear stability has become extremely important.
3 Balanced lubricated friction characteristics
A car engine oil aims to reduce friction between moving parts in order to provide good fuel economy and efficiency. A motorcycle engine oil requires balanced friction characteristics as it needs to lubricate the wet clutch, which in turn transfers engine power to the drivetrain. If the friction level is too low, the clutch will not be able to engage and will cause slippage.

I am no expert but if ever I get on my bike again I would be far happier looking at the tacho reading 9,000 rpm knowing my oil was designed for it - not saying the Aldi one isn't but would not take the risk.

So for now I should pop out and get some Suzuki brand oil, Or is there much the same oil in other brands,

I dont even know how much the Suzi oil is so its not a case where I dont want to pay top bat .. its more to do with how far I have to travel to get it... What oils do you trust to do a good job ?

I guess it's down to personal choice but I use castrol power 1 and always have in performance bikes.

I only change it once a year and with 4l for £38 at Halfords it's almost enough for 2 x oil changes. You also can get a smaller one too (top up size) to enable you to do 2 x changes for about £45 total.

If you are in no rush you can get 4l off eBay for £28.95 free postage and a 1l one for about £9, again postage free. 

PS You need to get some KURUST too for that exhaust sooner rather than later and top it with black heat dispersant paint !

Like I say - it is down to personal choice as I would imagine all the top makes are similar spec. I guess it comes down to what oil you can actually get from your supplier 

That stuff in Aldi might be ok - we need a guinee pig to try it out. Any volunteers Kantara - your bike don't go that fast so if it blows up it won't do much damage

No mate not me.  I stick to  what the dealer says.  Anyway they do the servicing.

Seeing my bike has done approx. 1600 miles from new (Aug 2015) when does it need an oil change? Careful with the numbers I might not be around.

Well I think you and I both need not worry about the mileage but the gods (remember Mr Shakamosto thingy?) reckon you should change it 12 months!

Only cowards and rich people let a dealer service their bike! I know you ain't a coward so ...........
