Title: maintenance light showing???
Post by: Adam on May 29, 2016, 07:58:55 PM
My maintenance light has started showing today, could there be something wrong with my inazuma? it cant be telling me to service it as it has been taken for a service in the last 200 miles.

Thanks for any help!
Adam.

It probably wasn't reset when the service was done - it has to be done manually  :002:

Make sure the ignition's off.
Hold down the SEL button
Turn on the ignition, wait for 3 secs. The maintenance light will flash 3 times then go off, then let go of the button.

Well now I am confused.com
I've just had mine serviced and I asked if they had reset my maintenance display, they said no as the display had not come on.  :187:
Now on the maintenance chart (6-4) it gives the intervals as 3000 miles,
but on page (2-13) it say's 3600 miles.  :187:

Me thinks I must be reading/doing something wrong  :087:

The interval can be set at whatever you want.
But the display must be reset manually.

The 'maintenance' warning comes on at the set interval, after it was last reset - so if the interval's 3000 miles and it was last reset at 6,100 miles, it'll come on again at 9,100 miles

If you service before the light comes on, you can still reset it and it won't come on again till the next interval.

The handbook tells you how  :002:

Cheers Rob.
So going by what you've said above using that mileage it's always going to be a 100 over! What a waste of time and effort. I thought if you set it for 6000 it will come on at 6000. Where's the off button  :008:

No  :002:

If you reset it at exactly 6,000 miles it'll come on again at 9,000 miles
What it's doing is counting miles since it was reset, which is usually, but not necessarily, when it was last serviced.

Cheers Rob
Note to self "reset at 6000" though that could be a bit iffy if I'm banging up the M1. :008:

Can't see a problem - apart from switching off the ignition and needing both hands.

Let us know how you get on :001:

I'd pay good money to see Pat resetting the service metre at speed on the M1!  :008:

The mechanic who did the first 600 mile service on my bike didn't know how to reset the service indicator...I pointed out it was still on when I collected the bike...we ended up getting the handbook out and following the steps in there to get it sorted out!  :006:

Shows some attention to detail (at least on the ECU) that the first maintenance light always comes up at 600 and then automatically switches to 3000.

Well, look at the dates !    I couldn't find how to do this in my manual, so I came here, and lo and behold: You have my answer. I can take back all those words I said to the open road now.       Tanx
