Title: Grrr - rip off!

Just been quoted £800 to supply and fit an exhaust. Alongside other work the total bill will be £1,400.  For a bike not 3 years old that is a disgusting price.  My Inzuma is going to be an ex Inzuma and Mr Suzuki better not berth his super liner near the UK.

Is that a full Suzuki system ?
if so, I'm not that suprised.

It's not  a difficult job to do yourself, given a basic toolkit. On mine I think it'll be the black painted sections of each silencer that will rot thro first. In which case it will be cheaper to keep the original headers and cat and buy an aftermarket silencer to replace the originals. Even  a Yoshimura would be less than half that.

Blimey Bert, that sounds scary! Why all that amount of work required?...and a complete exhaust?

The other work is wheel bearings, chain and sprocket, service and MOT.  However, it is the exhaust I take issue with. £700 just for the parts?!  Even though it is a complete exhaust it seems to be rather steep.  My fault as I normally change my bike before the 3 years is up.  Win some, lose some.  Manufacturers - win some, win some more.

Does it really need a full system ?

If so, I wouldn't be replacing it with another of the same "quality"

Robell - I tried to get the workshop to find a 'copy' but apparently there are not full systems available.  They also didn't want to purchase them and I would have to source and they would just fit.  I am so angry.  Mainly with myself for not sticking to my 3 year rule but I had high hopes of the Inzuma.  Stupid is as stupid does.

I haven't seen a replica of the original exhaust system, ie 2 into 2, but if I needed to replace the whole system I think I would look at something like this...

In my experience original systems are crazy prices from all manufacturers...I assume yours has rotted through somewhere? Is none of it salvageable?

It's not unusual for a main dealer to only be interested in fitting o/e parts.
If aftermarket parts don't fit as expected, they have all the hassle of sorting it out.

If it's anything like my bike, the downpipes and catalyst will be ok, it's just the silencers which need replacing.
tbh, that's less than an hours work and involves probably 1/2 dozen bolts.
