Anti corrosion protection

I'm hoping this bike's a keeper, for a few years, so first job is corrosion protection.
ACF-50 isn't cheap, but was apparently designed for use in the aircraft industry, so should be good enough for me

Obviously this stuff doesn't work well on tyres or brake componenets, so first job is to mask those parts :

The ACF-50 is then sprayed liberally into all the nooks and crannies
(it sprays more evenly if you warm the can in a bucket of warm water first)

Any excess can then be wiped  and hopefully we're all set for the worst of Britain's salty roads

Second job, is to lubricate the mirror threads.
I've had steel  mirrors corrode solid in aluminium threads before, hopefully a good dose of copaslip, should prevent that :

Is that spray similar to wd40 and gt spray? Do you spray it everywhere forks and handlebars too?

ACF-50 is an active corrosion inhibitor :

It should last 12 months, tho I'll probably do it again before next winter

I regularly spray with this after washing, but it does need to be re-applied regularly.

The WD in WD-40 stands for water dispersant.
It's very good for a myriad jobs, but not sure about long term corrosion protection,

Never used gt spray, assume it's this :

looks to be similar to WD-40, but with a longer lasting lubricating film

p.s. just be careful where you spray any of the above. I over did it a bit and ended up with the rear tyre covered after the next ride

Cheers for that, I intend mine to be a keeper so this is great to know. So your spraying it on the engine too then just letting it dry on? I plan on having mine for a long time so the more tips on keeping rust at bay the better

Yep, I sprayed it everywhere.
It does tend to attract dirt a little.
Some of the coating will be removed when you wash/clean, but it should be left in the more awkward nooks and crannies that normal cleaning doesn't reach.

For the polishing fetishists, it's probably not worth while, but it's very much a workhorse for me, that will get used in all weathers.

I have also sprayed the bike all over but not engine, She will be covered over in winter dont think mine will see rain unless I get cought out.

Ill be spraying mine all over, its going to be used in all weathers too as my main commute, the car will be parked up most of the time
