Broken down!

Well, this is pants. Went to work this lunchtime for my shift, travelled in easypeasy, parked up, went in... At end of shift came out into the dark and the fog, went to start Thunderchild - and a big fat nothing. No lights on the dash, no parking lights, nada! 
Fortunately I have breakdown cover   
so a chap with a lorry came to the rescue and I'm home with a sad and dead bike!
I presume the battery has simply died - or maybe the alternator is sick. I've only had her three weeks and have ridden most days. It's been beastly foggy so maybe the wet has seeped in?

Anyway, garage where I bought her are coming to fetch her and repair her.

Please let us know what the issue was. I've heard it is easy to leave the park lights on with the European ignition switch so maybe that's what happened?

I don't think I did leave the parking lights on as I do check, and also yesterday I parked somewhere different, facing a wall... And I think I would have noticed the lights reflecting against the wall had I left them on. But it does seem a likely scenario.

I only had my bike 3 days and did the same thing, it's so easy to leave the park lights on with this model, it's now something that I check every time I park up.

Order an Australian ignition switch and never have the problem again  not sure if it is legal to do that in the UK but if it happens again it might be something to consider.

Not even a glimmer, would suggest battery.

Have you checked to see that the battery terminals are clean and tight ?

I am not sure if the dash of the Inazuma loses power when the kill switch is off or not but you might want to check that it didn't get turned to the 'off' position by accident... if you haven't checked it already.

I had forgotten about the kill switch but my friend reminded me while I was waiting for the breakdown lorry. Sadly, it wasn't that. I wish it had been!
I would just try recharging the battery BUT I have only had her three weeks so I might as well take the chance for it to be all properly checked out; after all, it might be an alternator issue. And anyway, my mechanical skills are not up to much and I don't fancy fiddling about with something that only has two wheels between me and splat.

Having said that, I think I might make it a New Years resolution to go on a short basic mechanics course.
