Yoke Sticker Home Made

Despite best efforts my yoke is getting a bit tarnished and its really annoying. I only have a soft key ring with my steering lock key and control for the electronic gates at home attached to the ring with ignition key, but still there are marks and scratches that dont go. I try to place the soft key ring under the other key and controller, but obviously they move as I travel.
So in the true tight fisted spirit of us Yorkshire men (I may have left but the spirit remains!) I am going to try and make my own Yoke Sticker, as although the original Suzuki carbon sticker looks great it is quite pricey.

I have some black patterned vinyl sticker (was kindly given to me by the mechanic at Suzuki) that I think will do a good job. But the problem is how easy will it be to cut out a good template and final sticker, aside from getting it stuck on straight and without creases!

My plan is to use some tracing paper, place it or stick it as tight over the yoke as possible. With a pencil make a stencil outline (although I think the Suzuki badge and nuts will be the tricky part) and then copy this onto the back of the sticker. With a craft knife I will attempt to cut it out. To apply it I think the hot weather will help, but also I will use an hair dyer to heat up and stretch it on a bit.

Now what the result will be I don't know, but I will try.

Any ideas or advice guys for the best result? This is first time I've tried something like this, so any input would be great. Thanks.

Also mate the Suzuki one has yuk Inazuma wrote on it yuk.
Keep us informed how you get on mate.
On my bike keys i don't have anything else on the key ring just for that reason they flail and thrash around marking the paintwork and finish.

Good idea mate. I was thinking about using as fine as a blade possible, but still could end up with shabby edges, so this could be a solution. Will do some local research.
