So Mantrid, How did it go? Are you happy with it? I was thinking of getting a 16T front spocket and a Jaycar speedo corrector to get it reading correctly (http://jaycar.co.nz/productView.asp?ID=AA0376&w=KC5435&form=KEYWORD).

It works well, my speed matches the GPS, but it does under-record the distance traveled (by the same percentage) which may be illegal (not that I'm telling anyone).

Wouldn't it be more accurately recording the distance travelled? I'm basing this of it more accurately recording the speed and as they are related, your bike will be showing true kms/h and true distance. Nothing dodgy in doing that. In fact you've probably increased the resale value of your bike compared to a bike of identical age and condition, yours may record only doing 9,300kms whilst a bike that has incorrectly recorded it's speed and distance may show 10,000kms. Admittedly that's not a huge difference in the grand scale of things but it is something.

It's slightly increased the real distance travelled between services aswell, but not enough to be worried about.

 

tbh, I wouldn't make an issue of it, if I were trying to sell

The reason I say it under records is that I just completed a trip to my Sister's place which is about 1018Km return (measured by the GPS) but my total distance traveled according to the Odometer was about 950K i.e 6.7% less, which is roughly the percentage I used on the speedohealer (7.4%). The last time I went up there the total was definitely over 1000KM

my speedo under records speed which means I am going slower which for me is brilliant because we are full of speed traps around here and this keeps you the right side of the law. so I am not going to tinker just remember. if it was saying I was going slower than actual I would be a bit more concerned. has anyone found the latter?

You'd need to change the gearing quite considerably, to make it under - read.

1 tooth more on the front, or 3 less on the back, will still mean it over reads slightly.

I'm finding that my speedo is reading about 10% above the real speed. When I'm doing 50km/hr, in reality I'm only doing 45km/hr. When I'm doing 110km/hr, I'm actually only going 100km/hr.
Difficult when you're on the open road and the bike is saying 100km/hr (speed limit), I'm actually slowing everyone down behind me, because I'm actually only doing 90km/hr. Frustrating that the speedo cannot be accurate within 2-3%!

Difficult when you're on the open road and the bike is saying 100km/hr (speed limit), I'm actually slowing everyone down behind me, because I'm actually only doing 90km/hr. Frustrating that the speedo cannot be accurate within 2-3%!

That's exactly why I fitted the speedohealer, no guesswork required.
