Front brake caliper

Question for all of you. Has anyone replaced the front break caliper to a different one ? If so what caliper fits on gw250 maybe gsx750 would fit ? We use the bike everyday and the OEM caliper is not great and the weather in the UK is not doing it any favours. The open side is not great and every 3-5 months needs a rebuild.

Can't answer your question directly, I've never thought of changing the caliper.

I can confirm however, how dire both front and rear brakes are. They do their job very well, until you don't wash the general autumn/winter road grime off regularly. In the zuma's defence, my daily journey does involve very rural roads that are usually covered in what amounts to slurry, courtesy of the lovely farmers around here.

I seem to be removing both calipers every five to six weeks for thorough cleaning. Special attention is required in the usual places; pistons and pad sliders. Especially the latter. They need to be removed and cleaned to a shine and their 'seats' on the caliper likewise.

The tell tale sign that it's time to clean them is that the mpg starts to go down!!!

Incidentally, I have had to replace seals twice and pistons once both front and rear, over the past two years (12k miles).

Same here. The wife dose 50 miles a day for work on her and it's mix of rural and a roads. Same here as you say every 4-5 months needs a rebuild. But I've managed to change the caliper now to a GSF 600 MK1 Bandit fits perfectly. Let's see how it behaves over next few weeks but to be fair I can see a big difference in breaking already and feels a bit more stable than the OEM Inazuma break.

To be honest after a few days of riding it feels much better than the OEM break.
And hopefully no more rebuild a every 3 months from grime.

Hi MadMaz- do you still have the bike and how is the brake doing if so? Looked up these calipers and assume it would be the 1996-2000 GSF600, and the LHS one with mounting bracket. Would seem an easy enough job to do and just do a service/rebuild of whatever one I could get on Ebay that looks still decent condition. Wonder if that's notifiable to insurers???
