Yeah, 1st gear is pretty much unusable currently and that's a bit frustrating...
6.7% doesn't sound much, so probably acceleration decrement won't be noticeable.
If it helps getting 1st gear useful and overall is right fit, there are more pros than cons to go with 15T.
