Instability of the engine
« on: September 02, 2019, 04:41:56 PM »
Hello,
first forgive me for my english, i'm french and i'll do my best !  :002:

I have my gw250 for one month now and since a few days, the engine is instable : i have an unstable idle and if i keep a constant speed, the problem is the same.
I just change the oil, oil filter, air filter, sparks and i checked the valve clearance.
This morning, i checked the fuel filter into the fuel pump and it was very dark. Do you think my problem comes from that ? Should i change the fuel filter ?

Thank you in advance for your answers

Could be the fuel filter  :028:

Or maybe the throttle bodies need balancing

Thank you for your answer robell.

Yes i thought it could be the throttle bodies but i don't know if i can do it. When i had a kawasaki ER5, i did the synchro of the carburators (i don't know if it's the good word) in the DIY mode but i don't know if i can use the same thing to do the throttle bodies balancing...
I think i'll buy first a new fuel filter and if the problem is still there, i'll do the throttle bodies balancing. I tried to clean the fuel filter but it's almost impossible.

Just to be sure : the balancing of the throttle bodies, it's the p258 (5-23) of the service manual ?

Not something I've ever done.

It might be easiest to book into a dealer. Their diagnostic equipment should identify the problem.  :002:

Yes that's true but i like to tinker with my bike...

I'll try tomorrow the balancing of the throttle bodies and if the problem is still there, i'll bring the bike to a dealer... :230:
