Heated Grips--questionable value.
« on: June 17, 2019, 04:38:50 AM »
Had the (old, for me) thought that heated grips are a bad idea.
Why?  If you have used them, you MUST have found that if it was
cold enough for heated grips, the BACKS of your hands, in the airstream,
got WAY cold before your palms did.  So with heated grips, you are still
miserable. Heated gloves, they are the way to go. I bought a pair, but they
burned in a fire before I got to use them.  But I will buy again before I opt
for heated grips.  Just my opinion.
Not cheap compared to heated grips, but a lot more effective in theory. And
they can be switched between bikes a lot more easily.
I hope this helps.

Agree they might be more effective, but:

Heated grips are always on the bike
They work with all pairs of gloves - I have 6 pairs +, for different conditions
I can wear thin gloves on a cool summer morning, use the grips, then turn them off as the day warms up
" it's better to burn out, than to fade away "
