Lost my rear axle nut, what now?
« on: April 25, 2019, 03:27:43 PM »
Hey guys! New here to the group, but I am in urgent need of some help. It appears that during a recent trip, the right rear nut on the rear axle of my GW250 came loose and fell off. I'm counting my lucky stars that it didn't result in a horrendous crash, but I'm not riding until this issue is fixed. I thought this would be a simple matter of simply going online and ordering them from a parts manufacturer, but I've received e-mails from two different companies stating that the rear axle nut is no longer being manufactured.

What am I to do? Is it possible I'm ordering the wrong part? I've included a photograph of the part that is missing on the chance that I am an idiot. Would it also be possible to simply go to a local department store and walk out with something serviceable?

Unfortunately, yes. That is the one that stated that the part is no longer being produced. I know the parts are identical for the year models for the GW250, I'm just getting frustrated that the lack of a $4.00 part is preventing me from riding.

A few thoughts :

Can't believe that part isn't available from Suzuki  :005:
I wonder if the GSX-R250 uses the same nut ?

To get the part from anyone else, you would need to measure the diameter and pitch of the thread.

If that nut was correctly torqued, it would never come undone. If that was a dealer or mechanic, I'd be on the phone to them, insisiting they put it right.
