Side panel removal video

Hi folks 

Many small maintenance tasks require removal of the side panels and I have seen a few posts regarding the hassle of getting the side panels off and knowing where the attachment points are etc.  I've found a handy video which shows the removal of the panels and you get a good idea of where the plugs are, how hard to pull, what direction to pull etc.

Before re-assembly apply some silicone grease to the rubber fittings and the bits that go into them, then next time you have to take the side panels off you will not have to use so much force you run the risk of breaking them.

I had to come in from the garage to watch it again!

The R/H front panel seemed absolutely solid :-(

Now slips on and off so smoothly since its greased and I actually know what goes where!

It's dead easy, once you know where all the fittings are. Incidentally, unlike the video, I've never felt the need to loctite any of those fixings

Good advice on lube'ing the fittings Umoth.  That will defo make it easier in future.  I remember you had posted that previously in an old coolant post. 

Megashorts - I got stuck with the indicator panel myself until I realised it doesn't pull outwards but forward instead    Mine's was "stuck" solid too until I realised.

The whole reason for taking the panels off was to check the coolant level which looked low when looking up at the marks using the "torch" technique.  But once the panels were off, the level was very nearly at the "max".  It's just the sloping angle of the back of the tank which seems to exaggerate any drop in level.  In future - it I am above the "min" mark using the torch technique, then all is ok.
