Has any of you's fitted a USB charge point on the bike, Was thinking it would be a handy little tool for me in the summer,

would I have to connect straight onto the battery, or put in an extra fuse ?

Yep best put a fuse on because voltage fluctuations can cause problems. i.e.if you rev a bike high you can sometimes see the headlight brightness increase - this is because the voltage is higher when the engine is revved so it's always safer to put a fuse in to prevent putting a high voltage through an expensive piece of kit  :003:

The one that I use (got it off ebay) has a fuse already in it.

Yes they should have, to protect the circuit  :028:  But you can buy the usb port and make one up yourself.

Word to the wise ALWAYS fit a fuse in any 'add on' circuit cos otherwise you run the risk of blowing up your equipment or worse !

:127: 'Here lies an Inazuma that the owner did not fit a fuse to additional wiring'   :019:

I fitted an imitation x-ram mount that I found on ebay or aliexpress, it came with an integrated USB port wiring and a fuse. Now I can charge my phone whilst riding and also use my phone as a GPS at the same time if I want.

Suppose I should be looking for something much the same as it will be charging while riding, I'll have a look on chinabuy to see if they have something suitable  :028:

    Hi Wazuma,

Under the seat was the first place that came to mind when I first thought of fitting one, mainly because I could charge the phone out of sight, Must look for a tank bag with a clear pocket on top,
Did you connect directly onto the battery ?

    Hi Tayto
Dealer fitted, last service..will take a look at the wiring.
I've had to shorten the straps on this Rentec bag and they cover the knee grip area (I can live with this)- but it does offer holes for the under seat wiring and a neat, pop up GPS holder :002:
