Hi Tayto, the exhaust shield isn't stainless it's just chrome plated, so unless you can strip the chrome it's gonna be difficult to get the paint to adhere to it...plus if it's badly scratched it'll probably need to some filler too, to give a good painted finish. As the shields don't get 'that' hot, have you considered wrapping them like the attached pic'? (just a pic' I came across on Facebook)...might be an easier and neater solution?

Which has absolutely nothing to do the word I meant to use "trout"   

I have always had trouble with that little fish's name, I don't know if its because sometimes I write words as I pronounce them, if I sent you a letter via snail mail  30 years ago you would need a translator to figure out most of what was written,

Thank you for the info and the picture, it looks spot on and much as I imagined it would be.. do you happen to know if this skin is like heat shrink or would it be applied with a vacuum type thingy ?

Trying to think of a search word to Google it, if I start a search with the words I come up with you can be sure I will be side tract and still be searching for it tomorrow

Hi Dude.  I think the word you are looking for, (that stretchy stuff) to put on the plate is FABLON,  Hope this helps.  It is heat resistant.

Just checked an seen that homebase have it    Also checked a site that reckons it has about a 3 year exterior life span providing you seal the edges Plus it can be molded with heat gun or hair drier,

Now I'm bamboozled as to what to do    Paint it / Hide it Or replace it    I'm spoiled for choice which is sometimes a nice situation to find yourself in

Yea that was a good post grumpy put up for you .  Well done grumpy.   I expect many more will like this idea.  I will for one if my plates get scratched.  Mind you if this weather keeps up Bruce will stay in the garage wrapped up.
You said you have tried putting pictures on the forum of the holes but you failed.  Dude you are not alone.  I have tried to add photos to my gallery but failed.  Tried many times but all to no avail.  However my son is coming home next weekend so he will do it for me.  He don't know what he is letting himself in for.  I have many, many photos to be scanned an.d then put on my gallery and then many photos I have on the camera  I tried to follow the advice given by other members but failed. Oh woe is me. Some of the photos are from my hobby before I got back into biking. Stationary engines and pumps.  They were great fun but they got to heavy for me to move around because of the vast amount of weight I had lost.  However I hope they will be interest.  I did have a load of photo's of me when I was a rally driver.  However when we were coming home from one country to UK I burnt a load of crud and bugger me those photo's were burnt.  However I still have the memories, some were a bit hairy but never the less I  really enjoyed rallying.  Catch you later dude. O by the way, get onto tukadum and he will tell you how to make a trailer to attach to your bike.  More work.lol
