So I have set it on 3 and when I take Bruce out for a spin I will let you all know how it handles.

I have just looked at mine and it's on 4, I'm only 10st wringing wet so would like to knock it back to  3,

What did you use to move the ring type thingy. does it need to be moved in a clockwise direction or will any direction work,

Top pic is the spanner, that should be in the toolkit
In the second pic, the spanner is fitted to the castellation at the top of the shock. Looking on the top of the shock, turning the body clockwise, as in the pic, adds preload. Reverse the spanner and turn anti clockwise, lowers the preload.
The various settings are stamped into the collar, you can just see No.5 stamped above the spanner.
It's better to adjust in sequence 1 to 6 then back down again.

Hey I got a good idea remove the shock to lower the weight ,may help to keep up with bluebird inazuma

All I got with the bike is the log book, but thanks to your pictures I can now cut  and weld up "with me aldi welder" A tool for the job,

Any ideas from someone that goes for the blue rather than the fastblack are not worth listening to

Check under the seat for the bikes tool kit. I dont know why anyone would remove it from the bike as the tools aren't that great, they're just enough to do some of the basics.

Went and checked   Found what looks like the strap that held the tools in by the battery was just hanging there, No tools,

after checking the number on the adjuster I found it's actually on 6, my eyesight's not what it used to be :-)

LOL if your eyesight is that bad you better go and look if it certainly not there! 

You must have a sore ar$e if it's on 6 lol 

It's easy enough to adjust though and hopefully you will find the ride a bit smoother

There is a shock tool for Suzuki on amazon new ridgeyard £2.62

You may be able to adjust it with a long screw driver if it will reach right through the slots? I can no longer check myself and the vstrom has a dial on the side of the bike you can adjust by hand
